Annapurna Circuit Trek
Overview
The Annapurna Circuit Trek – often referred to as the Mini Annapurna Circuit Trek – offers a condensed yet immersive experience of Nepal's most iconic trekking route. Designed for trekkers with limited time, this short version allows you to traverse the legendary Thorong La Pass (5,416m) and complete the circuit efficiently, concluding with a scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.
This shortened trek follows the core trail of the classic Annapurna Circuit, offering breathtaking mountain views and rich cultural encounters. The trek gained immense popularity after the Manang region was officially opened to trekkers in the 1980s and remains one of Nepal’s best-selling trekking routes.
Throughout the journey, trekkers are rewarded with panoramic views of several majestic Himalayan peaks, including:
- Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m)
- Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m)
- Mt. Manaslu (8,163m)
- Mt. Annapurna II (7,937m)
- Mt. Annapurna III (7,555m)
- Mt. Annapurna IV (7,525m)
- Mt. Nilgiri (7,041m)
- Mt. Lamjung Himal (6,986m)
- Tukuche Peak (6,920m)
- Tilicho Peak (7,134m)
The trek also takes you through culturally diverse communities such as the Thakali, Gurung, Brahmin, Chhetri, and Tibetan Sherpa, allowing you to experience the authentic lifestyles of Nepal’s ethnic groups. The Annapurna region is equally rich in biodiversity, home to wildlife like Himalayan Thars, leopards, jackals, and a wide variety of bird species.
The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar and onward to Dharapani, where the trek officially starts along the Marshyangdi River Valley. You will pass through picturesque villages such as Chame, Pisang, and Ngawal, before acclimatizing in Manang. After a rest day in Manang, the trail ascends through Yak Kharka and Thorong Phedi (or High Camp) before crossing the formidable Thorong La Pass—the highest trekking pass in Nepal.
Descending from the pass, you will reach the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath Temple, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists as the “Temple of Salvation.” The trek concludes with a walk to Jomsom via Kagbeni, from where you will board a morning flight to Pokhara.
The Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is offered by Native Everest Treks with both group departures and private treks available. You may select a preferred date from our scheduled group treks or contact us for a customized itinerary on dates of your choosing. This trek can be undertaken year-round, and for those with more time, we highly recommend considering the Full Annapurna Circuit Trek for an extended experience.
