Cho Oyu Expedition
Overview
Mt. Cho Oyu, standing at an elevation of 8,201 meters, is the sixth-highest mountain in the world and one of the most popular 8,000-meter peaks for mountaineers. The mountain was first successfully climbed on October 19, 1954, by Herbert Tichy (Austria) along with Pasang Dawa Lama (Nepal) and Joseph Jöchler (Austria).
Cho Oyu lies in the Khumbu Himalayan Region, on the border between Nepal and Tibet (China), near Mt. Everest. While most ascents are traditionally made from the Tibetan (North) side, Native Everest Treks Pvt. Ltd. proudly recommends the Nepal side for a more adventurous and less commercialized climbing experience.
The expedition passes through the breathtaking landscapes of Sagarmatha National Park, offering climbers a unique blend of technical challenge, cultural exposure, and Himalayan beauty. Cho Oyu is considered one of the more accessible 8,000-meter peaks, making it a perfect choice for those aiming to step into high-altitude mountaineering.
