The best seasons for Chulu West Peak Trek & Climb:

The best time for trek and climb of Chulu West Peak are spring and autumn / fall seasons. Spring begins from March to May, and autumn from September to November. Spring time with longer sunny days, the best seasons for treks and climb, as well as for stunning views of mountain range. However, cold morning and in shade as well as the night time, can expect snow fall sometimes.
Autumn from September to November one of the best time for treks and climb, most days are fine and clear. But shorter sunlight hours, much cold morning and late afternoon until nighttime. Can expect snow fall sometimes above 3,000 m high on walks and climb.

Overviews:

Chulu West Peak Trek and Climb is one of the most exciting adventures that anyone can experience. Among all the Chulu groups of peaks, Chulu West is the technically difficult peak to climb. However, with much patience and determination can enjoy the climb reaching on top of Chulu West Peak.
Chulu West Peak stands at 6,419 m / 21,055 feet, amidst its adjoining peaks of Chulu East and Chulu midst. The adventure to Chulu West Peak takes to the far-flung hidden corners of scenic Manang Valley.

The walk follows the scenic trail of the famous Annapurna Circuit for several days till Manang village. As the altitude gains on leaving the main village of Manang, and then our route diverts towards mountain wilderness.

After the last settlement of Yak Kharka and Ledar, the walk follows to the hidden corners. Reaching at the base of Chulu West Peak and close to its adjoining group of Chulus. For the climb of Chulu West Peak, the grading is TD means Technical Difficulty. The grading system is used from the famous French / Swiss Alpine Climbing Classification. The climb is enjoyable with exciting and adventurous moments, encountering a few tough technical sections to overcome.

The rest of the climb is on a moraine of rocks, snow, and ice and walking on glaciers. Includes steep haul to reach on top of Chulu West Summit, having time for preparation and acclimatization.

After the summit bid, head back on the main trail with the last steep long climb to Thorang-La Pass. The highest spot on treks after the Chulu West Peak climb, from the pass, is a long descent to the Mustang area. To reach the holy place of Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for the Hindu followers.

From Muktinath, our adventurous walks come to an end upon reaching Kaligandaki River Valley in Jomsom. A large town and headquarters of Mustang district, from Jomsom, a short scenic flight brings you to Pokhara.

A beautiful city, blessed with natural lakes, located in the shadow of the Annapurna Himalayas. Pokhara is a lovely spot, where our marvelous adventure Chulu West Peak Trek & Climb concludes.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Take some time to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

Kathmandu Sightseeing – Swayambhunath & Boudhanath

Today, enjoy a guided cultural tour of two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Swayambhunath Stupa (also known as the Monkey Temple) and the majestic Boudhanath Stupa. These ancient sites offer a glimpse into Nepal’s deep-rooted Buddhist and Hindu traditions.

Day 3

Drive to Besisahar (760 m)

Begin your journey westward with a scenic drive through hills and riverside villages to reach Besisahar, the starting point of the Annapurna Circuit region.

Day 4

Drive to Dharapani (1,860 m)

Continue your drive along the rough mountain roads, passing terraced fields and waterfalls. Reach the charming village of Dharapani, the gateway to the Manang region.

Day 5

Trek to Koto or Chame (2,600 m)

Start your trek alongside the Marsyangdi River. Pass through pine forests and traditional Tibetan-influenced villages to reach Koto or the administrative town of Chame.

Day 6

Trek to Lower Pisang (3,200 m, 6 hrs)

The trail offers a mix of uphill climbs and gradual ascents, with the first spectacular views of the Annapurna range. Overnight at Lower Pisang village.

Day 7

Trek to Ngwal (3,660 m, 6 hrs)

Trek through high-altitude terrain and ancient Tibetan-style settlements to reach the quiet village of Ngwal. The views of Annapurna II and IV from this section are stunning.

Day 8

Trek to Manang (3,540 m, 5 hrs)

A scenic walk to Manang, the cultural heart of the region. Explore local monasteries, yak pastures, and learn about the rich traditions of the Manangi people.

Day 9

Acclimatization Hike to Kicho Tal (Ice Lake – 5,001 m)

Today is crucial for acclimatization. Embark on a challenging hike to Ice Lake (Kicho Tal), offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Return to Manang for the night.

Day 10

Trek to Yak Kharka (4,018 m, 5 hrs)

Ascend gradually through alpine landscapes dotted with grazing yaks and dramatic mountain backdrops. Yak Kharka is a small settlement used by herders.

Day 11

Trek to Ledar (Approx. 4,200 m, 4 hrs)

A short trek to Ledar helps in further acclimatization. You’ll begin to feel the effects of the thinning air as you gain elevation.

Day 12

Trek to Chulu West Base Camp (Approx. 5,000 m, 6 hrs)

Leave the main Annapurna trail and head toward the secluded base camp of Chulu West Peak. Settle in and begin preparations for the climb.

Day 13

Trek to High Camp

Today involves a steep and technical climb to High Camp. The trail involves moraines, snow, and icy sections. Rest and prepare for the summit push.

Day 14

Summit Chulu West Peak (6,419 m) and Return to High Camp (Approx. 13 hrs)

Begin the summit attempt before dawn. The climb involves technical sections on snow and ice. Upon reaching the summit, enjoy unmatched views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and beyond. Descend safely to High Camp.

Day 15

Trek to Ledar (7 hrs)

Retrace your steps from High Camp to Ledar, enjoying the drop in elevation and the scenic surroundings.

Day 16

Trek to Thorong High Camp (4,880 m, 7 hrs)

Climb steadily towards Thorong High Camp in preparation for crossing one of the highest trekking passes in the world.

Day 17

Cross Thorong-La Pass (5,416 m) – Trek to Muktinath (3,760 m, 9 hrs)

An early start takes you across the iconic Thorong-La Pass, the highest point on the Annapurna Circuit. Descend to the sacred site of Muktinath, an important pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Buddhists.

Day 18

Trek or Drive to Jomsom (2,720 m, 5 hrs)

A pleasant descent to the windswept valley of Jomsom, the administrative center of the Mustang district. Option to trek or drive, depending on time and conditions.

Day 19

Fly to Pokhara and Return to Kathmandu

Catch a scenic morning flight to Pokhara and then an afternoon flight back to Kathmandu. Enjoy your last evening in the capital city.

Day 20

Final Departure

Transfer to the airport for your international departure. Farewell and thank you for being part of this incredible Himalayan adventure.
